History and Traditional Use

Lemon has been used since Ancient Rome and throughout medieval Europe as a cleansing and protective fruit. The practice of carrying lemons by sailors to help prevent scurvy is one of the earliest historical examples of the fruit’s association with immune health.

With the development of cold-press extraction technology, lemon essential oil became widely used in perfumery, household cleaning products, and traditional citrus colognes.

In modern aromatherapy, lemon essential oil is regarded as an uplifting oil that promotes mental clarity, supports feelings of energy, and refreshes indoor environments.
