Patch Test
Patch testing allows you to see how your skin reacts to a substance before using it more commonly. Here are the steps for patch testing:
- Wash your forearm with soap and dry gently.
- Apply a few drops of diluted essential oil to a small area on your forearm.
- Place a bandage over the area and keep the area dry for 24 hours.
- If you notice any redness, irritation or discomfort within 24 hours, remove the bandage and wash your skin thoroughly with gentle soap and water. Do not use essential oil if any reaction develops during patch testing.
If there is no irritation for 24 hours, it is likely safe to use the diluted essential oil.
