Although this perennial shrub is native to South Africa, it is now grown worldwide, namely in Central America, Europe, Congo, Egypt, Russia and Japan. It is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of Pelargonium graveolens, the most commonly grown geranium species for extracting its essential oil. There are many varieties and species of pink flower with a fresh, floral scent. Each variety smells different, but is almost the same in terms of composition, benefits, and uses.
Geranium oil is widely used in perfume and cosmetic products. It is preferred in perfumes due to its refreshing aroma.
